Palais Garnier and Musee d’Orsay
Thursday was chock full, with a morning visit to the opulent Palais Garnier (the Paris Opera, built between 1861 and 1875 at the request of Emperor Napoleon III) and then an afternoon trip to the Musee d’Orsay. Leaving the Palais Garnier, we walked through Place Vendome and saw Napoleon’s commemorative column about the Battle of…

A peaceful trip to l’Orangerie
Wednesday started with a trip to the Orangerie, a building located in the Toilleries, not far from our apartment. (The adjacent Place de la Concorde- where many beheadings once took place- was essentially closed for remodeling and so we were unable to see the large Egyptian obelisk located there.) Guns for the museum, germs for the constant wearing of masks, and steel for the Eiffel Tower. The Musee des Armies is a military history museum, and France is proud of it’s long military history.…

Sunday December 19 church, lunch, saint Chappelle, Christmas markets, and outside Notre Dame
/ Sunday, we took the metro to church at the St Merri ward in Paris, where Madeline served half of her mission. She was greeted fondly and we enjoyed meeting people that we had heard about in her mission emails. After church, sister Ding made us a delicious Chinese luncheon. She loves Madeline and told…

Let’s walk by the Eiffel Tower
